At the Humani Private Medical Clinic in Rosemère, we have established assessment protocols tailored to various types of work.
Pre-employment Screening
While this has long been common practice in large companies, more and more employers are requesting pre-employment screening. The goal is to obtain an overall picture of the health and physical condition of job applicants. To meet this type of demand, at the Humani Private Medical Clinic in Rosemère, we have established assessment protocols tailored to various types of work.

Why request a pre-employment exam?
Nothing can replace a complete medical exam when it comes to getting an accurate picture of a future employee's health. During a pre-employment medical exam, the person undergoes a physical exam and certain tests, including blood tests, to obtain clear information. A pre-employment protocol, which may vary depending on the employer's needs, serves four main purposes:
- Find out about a candidate's medical condition
The employer can learn more about their health, limitations, and physical abilities. It should be noted that it is illegal to discriminate against someone on the basis of illness; the criteria sought must be clear and related to the job.
- Ensure that the prospective employee is capable of performing the tasks associated with the job for which they have applied
For example, the cardio-respiratory capacity of a person intended to fill a position requiring sustained and/or prolonged physical effort could be checked.
- Qualify candidates based on the requirements of a position
Those who do not meet the requirements can then be discriminated against or placed in a candidate pool.
- Establish a baseline
Such a baseline (initial state of health) can be used for insurance claims or follow-up with the CNESST in the event of illness or injury.

Possible components of the examination
A medical evaluation: The doctor conducts a complete physical examination.
Drug screening: By testing blood and/or urine, the presence of drugs in the body can be verified, indicating their use by the prospective employee.
Blood test: Various tests can be performed on the samples, including checking cholesterol and blood sugar levels (an indicator of diabetes).
Audiology test: These tests check the quality of hearing.
X-rays: If necessary, X-rays can be taken at our partner Imagix in Sainte-Thérèse.
Standardized and tailored pre-employment protocols
It should be noted that such medical tests for employees are sensitive; an employer can only request them under certain conditions. The testing standards we have established at Humani and offer to companies comply with the legal framework in this regard and provide results tailored to various types of jobs. We invite business and organization managers who wish to take advantage of the benefits of pre-employment exams to contact us. Our medical staff will be happy to establish an assessment protocol and apply it to your future employees!
